Dr. He Dayi 1970 was admitted to MIT, and 1974 obtained his bachelor's degree with honors. In the same year, he entered Harvard University, and 1978 obtained the medical doctor's degree from Harvard Medical School. 1978- 1982 conducted clinical practice in internal medicine and epidemiology at UCLA School of Medicine, and 1982- 1985 conducted clinical practice at Massachusetts General Hospital. 198 1 year, when He Dayi was a trainee doctor in Cedars-Sinai medical center, she was exposed to the first batch of AIDS cases.
He Dayi is one of the first scientists in the world to realize that AIDS is caused by virus, and also one of the first scientists to clarify the diversity of HIV replication. Based on this understanding, He Dayi and his colleagues devoted themselves to the research of combined antiviral therapy, namely cocktail therapy. This therapy combines protease inhibitors with nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors and non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors, which can treat AIDS more effectively. Since 1996 was used in developed countries, the mortality rate of AIDS patients has been effectively reduced.
1997 Xinyu municipal people's government awarded Dr. He Dayi an honorary citizen and hired him as a scientific consultant. Yushui District People's Government awarded Dr. He Dayi a house with three bedrooms and two halls in the compound of the district government.
In 2000, Dr. He Dayi attended the seminar "Towards the New Century" sponsored by all-china youth federation, Home Affairs Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, Beijing Municipal Government and CCTV, and made a speech at the meeting.
On June 2, 2004, he was one of five foreigners who won the honor of being an academician of China Academy of Engineering. Outstanding contribution is the research and treatment of AIDS.
In June 2007, Tsinghua University AIDS Comprehensive Research Center was established, with He Dayi as its director.
On October 6th, 2008 165438+2008/KLOC-0, the University of Hong Kong awarded an honorary doctor of science.
