The Origin of Luodai Guild Hall

In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, due to war and famine, Sichuan was vast and sparsely populated. In order to encourage immigrants to enter Sichuan, the rulers formed the largest migration movement in the history of China, which lasted for more than 100 years. Sichuan is one of the most Hakka provinces in Chinese mainland. Hakka people who have settled in Sichuan take the guild hall as the center, which is an important center for gathering, discussion and sacrifice of Hakka fellow villagers, and also a settlement for immigrants.

Most Hakka guilds are symmetrically arranged with the central axis, facing south, symbolizing the infinite yearning for their hometown. The entrance building is a theater, and the theater is also in the inner courtyard. On both sides is a two-story wing with a dam in the middle. This is the place where large-scale activities are held. It is not only a separate chapter, but also closely connected with the main hall. Among them, the Guangdong Guild Hall, which has typical architectural features, has three halls in the middle, arranged in turn, and there are circular giant wooden columns in the halls, which is very solemn. The main pavilion is in Wang Lou, Guangdong. The pillars in the hall are dense and orderly, and the ladders on both sides are narrow and steep.
