What? Is it a working holiday visa?

With the signing of the New Zealand-China Free Trade Agreement, the New Zealand government opened working holiday visas to Chinese citizens from October 1, 2008. This visa category provides 1,000 opportunities per year for young Chinese people to enter New Zealand for tourism and short-term work. Applicants who meet the requirements can obtain a one-year working holiday visa to work temporarily while traveling and sightseeing in New Zealand.

How long is the working holiday visa valid? Can it be extended?

The working holiday visa is a multiple-entry visa and is valid for 12 months. Extensions under this category are not allowed after the working holiday visa has expired.

How is the Working Holiday Visa different from other work visas?

The main purpose of a working holiday visa is "holiday" rather than "work". How to apply for a Working Holiday Visa?

Where should application materials be submitted?

In addition to residents of Shanghai, Anhui, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Fujian, and Jiangxi who submit applications at the Shanghai office, residents of other provinces and cities in mainland China should submit their materials to the New Zealand Immigration Service Beijing office.

What should I do if the application materials are not submitted within 60 days?

You must submit all materials to Immigration New Zealand within 60 days after completing the online application. Otherwise your working holiday visa application will be refused. In addition, please provide all materials at once. If the materials are incomplete, the application will be returned. After completing the online application, if you do not wish to continue the application, please notify your visa processing office.

What is the application fee and how should I pay it?

The current application fee for the Working Holiday Visa is RMB 630 or US$95.
