According to Announcement No.5 (20 19) issued by the General Administration of Customs of People's Republic of China (PRC) and China, China Customs has implemented a new pet entry policy since May 20 19. Only pets with complete formalities can enter any city in China.

Entry is divided into pets in designated countries or regions and pets in non-designated countries or regions.

Include New Zealand, Australia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Hawaii, Guam, Jamaica, Iceland, Britain, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Cyprus, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Macau, China. Pets brought into China from these countries or regions must have valid electronic chips and pass on-site quarantine.

2. From non-designated countries or regions

Pets from all countries or regions other than the designated countries or regions must have effective electronic chips, provide rabies antibody test reports issued by credit laboratories (antibody titer or immune antibody amount must be above 0.5IU/ml), and pass on-site quarantine.

It should be noted that pets must be brought into China by someone, and all documents must be linked with the information of passengers. According to official regulations, pets need to be quarantined for at least 30 days if the documents do not meet the standards.

Entry process with pets 1. When returning home, inbound passengers are limited to one pet and pets are limited to cats and dogs. Some new pets, such as lizards, spiders and Dutch rats, are not allowed to be brought into China.

2. When pets enter the country, they need to declare to the inspection and quarantine personnel at the port of entry, and issue the official quarantine certificate of the country where the pets are exported and a valid rabies vaccination certificate. If the carrier is unable to provide the above materials or the companion animals it carries exceed the limit, the inspection and quarantine institution shall return them or destroy them within a time limit.

3. The inspection and quarantine institution shall carry out clinical quarantine on the companion animals carried by passengers after all the certification materials provided by the carrier have passed the inspection. After passing the clinical quarantine, companion animals from countries or regions where rabies occurs shall be quarantined in isolation and quarantine places designated by entry inspection and quarantine institutions for 30 days. Companion animals from countries or regions where rabies has not occurred shall be isolated in isolation and quarantine places designated by entry inspection and quarantine institutions for 7 days, and in other places designated by entry inspection and quarantine institutions for the remaining 23 days.

4. If the companion animal belongs to the working dog, and the carrier provides the corresponding professional training certificate, it may be exempted from quarantine.

When pets are brought back to China, they need to show relevant certificates and reserve their location. Just like pets going abroad, they need to be prepared in advance.

Some points that need special attention when pets return to Hong Kong: 1. Rabies vaccine for pets must be greater than 1 month and less than 1 year.

2. Common vaccines for pets must be greater than 14 days and less than 1 year.

3. The validity period of the pet health certificate is 10 day, which requires the signature of the veterinarian and the seal of the local animal quarantine bureau.

When the documents are ready, it is half the battle, and then the pet space is reserved.

The earlier you book the location of pets, the better. Because the number of pets you can take on each plane is limited, you must make an appointment in advance.
