When will China resume visas for foreigners?

Q 1。 Can foreigners enter the country with a valid visa?

No. The announcement on September 23 is only a partial adjustment to the announcement on March 26, but it does not replace the original announcement. Specifically, the announcement on September 23 only partially adjusted the "temporary suspension of entry of foreigners with current valid residence certificates".

On March 26, about "temporarily stopping foreigners from entering the country with current valid visas" and "temporarily stopping foreigners from entering the country with APEC business travel cards". Measures such as suspension of port visas, 24/72/ 144-hour transit visa-free, Hainan visa-free entry, Shanghai cruise visa-free entry, Hong Kong and Macao foreigners visa-free entry to Guangdong 144-hour, and ASEAN tour groups visa-free entry to Guangxi are still effective.

If it is not for the three situations mentioned in the announcement, it is still impossible to enter the country with visas obtained before March 28, including visas for more than ten years.

Q2。 What is the difference between a visa and a residence permit?

visa

A visa is a permit issued by the competent authority of a sovereign country to foreigners to enter the country. Foreigners may legally enter other countries with valid passports and visas after being examined and approved by the port entry-exit administration.

All visas in China have obvious "visa" signs.

residence permit

The China People's Residence Permit for Foreigners is a residence certificate that foreigners apply to the exit-entry administration department of public security after entering China with relevant visas. You can enter and leave the country without a visa if you have a residence permit.
