Canada's New Zealand Choice Agreement was signed and approved in February 1999. The agreement allows New Zealand to play an active role in immigration selection to meet specific economic needs.

Business applicant qualification

The applicant's business plan must be approved by New Zealand officials and considered to be of economic benefit to the province.

The applicant has successful experience in running a business.

Applicants must visit New Zealand at least once and discuss the business plan of the documents they send with provincial government officials.

Applicants must become New Zealand residents and actively implement their business plans.

The applicant's assets must be able to maintain his business plan and funds to support himself and all his family members. And explain the legitimacy of the source of funds.

Applicants must provide Canadians other than the applicant's family to create new employment opportunities.

Business plan (applicant who is restricted to attach business plan). Applicants must have age, language ability, education, work experience, adaptability and skill shortage, with a total score of at least 50 points.

Overall evaluation: After the application is reviewed, the organizer of the New Zealand Selection Project may give the applicant the highest score of 10 and other factors that will help the applicant settle in New Zealand.

Application procedure

1. Complete the self-assessment according to the self-assessment scale, and judge whether your qualifications meet the New Zealand selection plan.

2. Submit a business plan.

3. Arrange a five-day study tour in New Zealand and related matters.

The business plan has been reviewed and approved.

5. The organizer of the New Zealand Selection Scheme will review your application according to the selection elements and benchmarks listed in the self-assessment score sheet.

6. The successful applicant should attach a good citizenship card and pay the processing fee and permanent residence fee levied by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

7. The New Zealand Ministry of Commerce will send a letter of recommendation, together with a complete immigration application, to the Canadian visa office that handles your affairs.

8. The Federal Embassy in the jurisdiction where the applicant is located shall notify the applicant after the medical examination.

9. The applicant obtained a Canadian permanent resident immigrant visa after passing the medical examination.
