Zou population in China

Zou is one of the hundred surnames in China, especially in Sichuan and Jiangxi. Zou has a population of about 4 million, accounting for 3.3% of the contemporary population, that is, at least 33 people out of every 10,000 people are surnamed Zou. During the pre-Qin period, Zou mainly lived in Shandong. After Qin and Han Dynasties, Zou moved to Henan and Hubei. In the Western Jin Dynasty, Zou had entered Shaanxi and crossed the Yangtze River to reach Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Anhui and other regions. During the Tang Dynasty, the Central Plains moved south for the second time, and Zou moved to Jiangnan, Fujian, Guangdong and other places, and Zou got great development. Except Jiangxi, Jiangsu Zou accounts for 138% of the total population, Fujian Zou accounts for 75% of the total population, and Hunan Zou accounts for 7 1% of the total population. During the Ming Dynasty [1368- 1644], there were about 380,000 people surnamed Zou, mainly distributed in Jiangxi, Fujian, Jiangsu, Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Shandong. In the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, the imperial court forced immigrants, which was called "Huguang filling Sichuan" in history, and a large number of Zou immigrants entered Sichuan.
