What is the meaning of CEGEP students in the Canadian University Admissions Guide?

The abbreviation of French College des etudes Generales et Professional Neles is literally translated as "College of General Education and Vocational Education", which is the professional name of the college here. As the name implies, Cegep has general education and vocational education, and general education is a pre-university course, generally two years. If local students want to go to university for further study, they must go to Cegep to study general etudes. Without the relevant courses of Cegep, it is unlikely to be admitted to a university, because university projects generally require a certain course of Cegep to be basic (in fact, some basic courses of our universities in China are conducted here at Cegep. For example, universities in China have advanced mathematics courses for almost every major, but universities here generally don't, because the mathematics courses here are on Cegep, although the difficulty may not be as good as ours).

Vocational education, of course, is for the purpose of occupation, generally three years. However, if you change your mind after graduation and want to go to college, it is ok.

For immigrants from China, if they have a China degree, they don't need to study Cegep. The university here can recognize your past education. Of course, if you change to a brand-new major and don't have the basic courses of Cegep, I don't think you can get into college.
