[Touma] 20 18 International Summit

More than a week ago, several people made a special trip to Chicago at their own expense to attend Toastmasters International 20 18 Global Summit. I am one of them. If you count the time and expenses of this trip, this is not a random decision, but someone has replaced his head with his feet on some issues, and I am one of them. The feeling of this trip is strikingly the same as that when I first joined Touma more than two years ago: I have paid little but gained a lot here.

The following are some gains, recorded and shared by asking questions.

"Every time I play a role, give a speech or share in Touma, I don't take money, but as long as someone comes to tell me that he is inspired, I feel that my meaning has been achieved!" I said this sentence when I made an appointment with my tutor more than a month ago, which inspired me a lot. After that, every time I share my speech, I also use this standard to measure my goals.

When I came to the international summit this time, as an audience, I saw nearly 100 speeches (including 4 1 competition speeches, more than 30 campaign speeches and 10 workshops). In retrospect, some of them are still in my mind, some have forgotten, and some have not even heard them all on the spot. Although they also made records with paper and pen, these points can definitely be contracted for a long time. As an audience and a speaker, we can also do reverse thinking on how to make the audience remember me and my content and make this communication more meaningful.

I have long heard that the top foreign horses are old, and I didn't know until I came: they are so old! I walked past an old lady casually and said that she was happy to study here. She is a retired teacher and is over 70 years old. There is a middle-aged black man in the back with a sunny smile. I didn't know he was about my father's age until I asked. At that moment, I really wanted to drill into the underground hole in America. Ms Magat, who won this year's election, said that she wanted to set an example for her grandchildren and that she would continue to learn and grow.

At the international summit, we saw some people fighting for the speech contest, while others worked hard for the election. Some people are sharing guests, others are doing conference services; Some people tell jokes on the stage, some people wipe their tears off the stage, some people are striving for Touma's lecturer certification, but at the same time, besides Touma, others come to receive awards or make donations. The four-day summit was dazzling and confusing, and occasionally I had to wipe my tears.

Calm down and think about it carefully. Everyone has different requirements here, but one is called learning, which is all sought here. Former international president Jana once said: learning is the real value of the first horse, and all growth needs learning.

I was lucky enough to meet Captain Jack, and I had only heard his name on the Internet before. The year before, he and his wife traveled around the world in a gap year, and Chicago was their last stop. Curious, I asked him what it was like to walk all the way down. He said he had seen all kinds of people's lives, but in fact he didn't know what kind of life he wanted.

Coming to the United States on the other side of the globe, the living conditions of people here are very different from those of China. The legal system is sound, people are free to speak, and they will smile and say hello when they meet on the road. It seems that their lives are slower, more enjoyable and more independent. Many of them seem to live by their own choice. Therefore, this year's winner of the Golden Hammer Award has been asking, "What are you going to do with your life?" What do you want to do by forcing yourself to learn and grow, and to blend in with the community to influence others? (The emphasis here echoes a little)

Simple and profound questions are also questions that most people have been unable to answer. In the U-shaped theory, this is also the turning point of the bottom. I can't answer it myself, but I saw some predecessors and role models in Touma, and maybe I just did what I wanted to do most.

The original intention of this article is not to encourage all top Malaysian partners to leave their jobs and spend money on global summits. Because of the differences in language and culture, some contents here are somewhat discounted, and some things are totally inapplicable in China. However, I want to encourage all the top horse partners to go out of their clubs, participate in interesting top horse activities, complete CC or A Road, be an official for one year, and then go to the regional summit every year. (I didn't know until I came here how much energy the region spends communicating with the keynote speaker every year to polish the speech content suitable for the needs of our group. I must praise the area here! )

Almost just after the final, some official WeChat accounts posted decent chicken soup articles on major platforms, which made us laugh at the game correctly and always felt that everything was wrong, haha. There are always many learning points in Mali, and the learning points obtained by each individual are very different, which is probably closely related to personal experience, occupation and growth stage (which is why I didn't write personal gains in this article). Because no one can experience instead of others, just as no one can study instead of us. Only by continuous learning can we grow up and get close to the life we want.
