Dongguan mosque

Dongguan Mosque was built around 1380 during the Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty. It is the largest in Qinghai Province and has a long history. Together with the famous Xi Anhuajue Temple, Lanzhou Qiaomen Temple and Xinjiang Kashgar Aitikal Mosque, it is also called the four major mosques in the northwest. According to two inscriptions in the existing temple, Rebuilding Monument of Xining Temple (1965438+May 2004) and Rebuilding Monument of Xining Dongguan Temple (65438+August 20948), it can be seen that this temple has a history of more than 600 years. It is an Islamic building with towers, walls and temples. The worship hall in the center is the largest building in the whole temple, covering an area of 1 102 square meters. The whole building has a unique style and distinctive structure. During the pilgrimage and three major religious festivals, thousands of Muslims gathered here to hold grand ceremonies. Dongguan Mosque is the highest research institution of Islamic classics and enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad.

Dongguan Mosque is the largest and best preserved ancient building in Xining. It is the largest Islamic temple in Qinghai Province and one of the four mosques in northwest China. "The temple is located in Dongguan Street, Xining City." During the Hongwu period, Zhu Yuanzhang, the Ming emperor, named Mu Ying, a Hui general who made great achievements, as Pinghou Xi, guarding this Gansu-Qinghai area. At that time, the Ming Dynasty adopted a series of practical measures such as garrison and immigration, and the number of Muslim residents living in Xining increased day by day. In order to meet the needs of Muslim religious life, Mu Ying asked the court for permission to start building mosques in Dongguan, where the Hui people live in compact communities. Soon, a mosque covering an area of 28,000 square meters, with a main hall of more than 2,000 square meters, two minarets, a gazebo and some auxiliary buildings has sprung up in Dongguan Street in Xining today.

During the reign of Xianfeng and Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty, Hui people in Xining and other places joined the national anti-Qing uprising one after another, and Xining became the base camp of Hui and Salar insurgents in this area. In the twelfth year of Tongzhi, the left army suppressed it, and Dongguan Temple, its stone tablets, imperial edicts and other cultural relics were destroyed. In the 21st year of Guangxu (A.D. 1895), another Hehuang Incident occurred in Hehuang area, which shocked the Qing Dynasty. The fate of the Dongguan Mosque in Xining is just as the inscription says: "After repeated wars, its land is deserted" and "after repeated discussions on revival, there is no foundation for its death".

After the Revolution of 1911, Ma Qi of Hezhou (now Linxia) in Gansu Province was appointed as the garrison ambassador of Ninghai, Gansu Province. Shortly after he took office, he personally "donated money to advocate" in May of the second year of the Republic of China, and raised two thousand pieces of silver to restart the construction of the grand mosque on the destroyed ruins. A year later, a large-scale temple was built, including five main halls, three-story minarets, five East halls, nine North halls, three South halls, three temple gates, and a kitchen and dining room.

The total area of Dongguan Mosque in Xining 13602 square meters. The building is magnificent, with China's ancient architectural art and Islamic characteristics. The original main entrance of the temple, the "first three doors", faces south. It is a green western-style gate with two small doors, ten meters high and fifteen meters wide. The banner plaque at the top of the door is inlaid with the glittering eight characters of "Xining Dongguan Muslim Temple" (the first three doors are now in front of the street-facing building of the Muslim Temple).

This temple has a history of more than 500 years. In the center of the temple is a hall that can accommodate 3,000 people for worship, with an area of about 1 102 square meters. The hall is decorated with glittering Tibetan distilled gold bottles. It is said that this vase was donated by the monks of Labrang Temple in Gansu after the completion of the Daxiong Hall, and it is only available in mosques in China. Several big pillars in the main hall were selected and presented by Huzhu You Ning Temple from the pine forests in the temple. This temple is an ancient palace-style building in China, with pure brick and wood structure. The building is solid, the structure is rigorous, the appearance is magnificent and the interior is elegant. On the north and south sides of the main hall are two two-story balcony buildings, which are built on the mountain. The main hall is adjacent to the balcony, which is very harmonious. These three buildings are the main body and the essence of the temple. The whole building has cornices and arches, carved beams and painted buildings, which are gorgeous and spectacular. Between the main hall and the balcony is a square covering an area of about 28,000 square meters. The floor is covered with green slates. Although the slates vary in size and shape, they are densely arranged, flat as a mirror, and do not expose the soil. So there is no dust in sunny days and no mud in rainy days.

Outside the square, there are doors made of the first three granite boulders. The three doors are about 50 feet high and 70 feet wide, which looks simple and solemn and magnificent. On both sides of Sanmen stand two tall choir towers, also called Dadian Tower. The top of the tower is decorated with two exquisite small prayer cones, which are said to be treasures presented by Ta 'er Temple in Huangzhong. Three doors before going out, it is a triangular yard. Out of the yard is the western-style gate facing the street. Above the top of the gate, there are six golden characters of "Dongguan Mosque" embedded, which are the same color as the goose yellow gate, pleasing to the eye and particularly elegant.

1997 Xining municipal government decided to renovate it, and the groundbreaking ceremony of the renovation project was held on May 1998. There is a three-story main building in front of the heavy gate, and the revised gate is an axis with the original middle five gates and the main hall. There are five circular arches under the main entrance, 45-meter-high domed minarets on both sides of the roof, and an underground parking lot at the bottom of the building. The street side of the main building is a six-story commercial complex; Five floors are built on the south side, which are respectively used as the office, reception room, dormitory, classroom and dining room of the temple management Committee. The whole project adopts reinforced concrete building structure, with a building area of 12370 square meters; The total project cost is130,000 yuan. 1999165438+1October 12.
