The history of Taipei city
Shortly after the proposal of building a government in Taipei was approved, in order to meet the needs of national defense, Governor Lin Daquan made a field survey in 1878 (the fourth year of Guangxu), and initially decided to build Taipei City on the uncultivated wasteland between Mongga and Avenue City. It is also envisaged to set up important buildings such as government agencies and ancestral halls in Taipei. Unexpectedly, before Taipei officially opened its government, Lin Daquan died of overwork.
1879 (the fifth year of Guangxu), Taipei officially opened. Chen Xingju, the first magistrate, and Cen, the governor of Fujian, who took office in188/kloc-0 (the seventh year of Guangxu), actively raised funds to build Taipei City. Finally, in 1882, Liu Ying, commander of Taiwan Province Province, officially started construction. Thanks to the cooperation between Chen Xingju Magistrate and Liu Ying, Taiwan Province Island, "Taipei City" was finally officially completed at 1884. This city is the last one built according to Feng Shui in the history of China.
After the completion of Taipei City, the Confucian Temple (as shown by the green mark on the left), the Wu Temple (blue), the Wang Sheng Temple (Confucian Temple) (orange), the City God Temple (red) and the Tianhou Palace (yellow) started in the city have also been completed. In addition, the city also has the Freshwater Hall, the Taipei Mansion, the Minister in Charge, the Governor of Taiwan Province Province and other yamen. At this time, Taipei has officially become the religious and political center of Taipei and even Taiwan Province Province.
The four city gates of Taipei have been listed as "national" first-class monuments, named Taipei Fucheng (North Gate, Xiaonanmen Gate, East Gate and South Gate).
/kloc-After the Qianlong and Jiaqing years of the Qing Dynasty in the middle of the 0/8th century, a large number of Quanzhou people crossed the sea along the Danshui River and settled in Mengga, Taipei. After intermarriage with local Pingpu people, the population increased greatly, and Mongga flourished, which is called "one house, two deer and three Mongga".
Later, Tongan people in Quanzhou, 1853 (the third year of Xianfeng in Qing Dynasty) were defeated in the classified battle of Mengga, so they had to move their family to Avenue City to do business, and they also developed. At this time, a lively Taipei settlement supported by Mongga and Da Daocheng has begun to take shape. However, at that time, the populous cities of Mongga and Dadao were still under the jurisdiction of the Freshwater Department, ruling remote areas.
1874 (13th year of Tongzhi in Qing Dynasty), the Peony Society incident in South Taiwan Province Province, hundreds of kilometers away from Taipei, was the remote cause of the establishment of Taipei. Due to the Peony Club incident, the Qing Dynasty, which lost the suzerainty of Ryukyu, finally realized Japan's territorial expansion preparation. On the other hand, the Qing court also greatly changed the cognition of Taiwan Province's strategic position. The Qing Empire finally realized that Taiwan Province Province was an outpost to stop Japanese invasion of China, so Emperor Guangxu, who wanted to upgrade Taipei to strengthen the national defense in northern Taiwan Province Province, approved the memorial of Fujian Governor Shen Baozhen in 1875, and Taipei Prefecture was formally established.
Imagine the Japanese army entering Taipei city; You can see the north gate of 1884 in the distance. During the Qing-French War, the French army marched from Keelung to the northern part of Taiwan Province Province, and was repelled by the Qing army when it reached the warm area. Because of this, Taipei, which was rushed to finish the work, was lucky to escape the first trial. However, with the War of 1895, Taipei did not play its original defense function. The Japanese invaders crossed the fortifications of Taipei City without bloodshed and easily entered Taipei City.
Gu, who was on a business trip in dry port at that time, was a key figure. At that time, Gu saw that officials of the Qing Dynasty in China left Taiwan Province one by one, and Taiwan Province, a democratic country with the Qing Dynasty as its suzerain, was thus destroyed. In order to avoid the continuous unrest in the city, he volunteered to go to Keelung to bring the Japanese army to Taiwan Province. The general history of this period of anti-Japanese rebellion in Taiwan Province Province is described as follows: "Lin Weiyuan, Lin Chaodong and Qiu are neck and neck, and Mr. Meng Ga, Wu Lianyuan and Chen argued with reason and could not control it. Please go to Li Chunsheng, a businessman in Daocheng, and ask the Japanese for help. No one dares to go. Ku Rong Xian of Lukang saw something urgent in Taibei, went to Keelung to meet the governor, demanded chaos and allowed chaos, and Japanese soldiers came in. 18, Prince Nengyu arrived. On the 21st, Governor Hua Shanji also arrived, so he opened a government here to manage the government of the army and the people. "
In addition, the Records of the Governor's Office of Taiwan Province Province also recorded the following: "Taipei is a hell on earth, and the gentry decided to send businessmen to welcome the Japanese troops into the city. On the 7 th, the Japanese army finally entered Taipei City without bloodshed. "
On June 7th, 1895, the Japanese army led by Gu arrived at the north gate. Chen Fa, an old woman in the city, braved the turmoil in the city to climb the north wall, put down the bamboo ladder and opened the gate, so the Japanese army easily entered the north city. On the same day, the Japanese army held a "political ceremony", symbolizing Japan's official rule of Taiwan Province Province.
