Who is the supreme leader of Cuba?

The current supreme leader of Cuba is Raul Castro, and the previous supreme leader was Fidel Castro.

Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz (Spanish: Raúl Modesto Castro Ruz, born June 3, 1931), the current supreme leader of the Cuban Republic , serves as First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Council of State (Head of State) and President of the Council of Ministers (Head of Government) of Cuba, and is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and a member of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (Mainland, Commander-in-Chief of Navy and Air Force).

Raul is the brother of Fidel Castro, the former First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba. Since the Cuban Revolution in 1959, Raul has been leading Cuba with his brother as his deputy. After his brother Fidel Castro was hospitalized due to illness, Raul Castro took over the chairmanship through a temporary transfer of power on July 31, 2006. According to Article 94 of the Cuban Constitution, in the event of illness or death of the President of the Council of State, the duties of the Vice President shall be taken over.

In April 2011, Raul was elected first secretary of the Central Committee and officially succeeded his brother Fidel as the top leader of the Cuban party, government and military. On February 25, 2013, he was re-elected by the National Assembly of People's Power of Cuba as Chairman of the Council of State of Cuba until 2018.
