The Origin of Yinmazhuang Village in Wucheng County

Text/Time Yunshan

Southbound along the Wucheng Canal, there is a village called Yinmazhuang. This is a place with stories. According to legend, a long time ago, there was an inclined brick well in the northwest of Yinmazhuang old village, and its origin and village name were related to Liu Xiu, Guangwu Emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty. At the end of the Western Han Dynasty, Wang Mang sent troops to kill Liu Xiu. He was tired and thirsty when he fled to a village about 12 miles southwest of the old city. Just then, I found a well near the village, but I didn't have any tools to fetch water. I was so anxious that I pulled the edge of the well and shouted, "OK, you lean, let me have a drink with the war horse!" " As soon as the voice fell, I saw that the brick well was really crooked. Liu Xiu was overjoyed, so he took the horse to the well and drank enough water, and continued to go east, leaving a legendary story of seeing Mazhuang, Maliangzhuang, Mayanzhuang, Yumayuan and other ancient villages all the way. Later, when Liu Xiu became the first emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty, people called the village where Liu Xiu drank horses "drinking horses" and the inclined shaft "going down the well". Some villagers also said that it was not Liu Xiu who drank horses here, but Zhao Kuangyin, the founding emperor of the Song Dynasty. According to legend, Zhao Kuangyin came here to inspect the barracks after dismounting at Jiama Camp, and once drank horses here. The debate is still in doubt and inconclusive. In fact, it doesn't matter which emperor drinks horses here. The key is that this well does exist in the village and it is inclined. According to the old people in the village, the inclination of this well is not big, but the water level in the well is very high, about 2 meters away from the wellhead. You can get water as long as you find a way. It is also true that well water is sweet and suitable for drinking. Yinmazhuang is surrounded by bitter water areas, but the well water in this village is sweet, which is the direct cause of the story and one of the reasons for gathering people to form a big village. When the prince swept across the north, almost all the people in the village died, leaving only three families. Later, immigrants from Shanxi and Jiaodong moved in one after another, and households became villages, also known as "Yinmazhuang".
