What are the problems facing social development in Africa? What is the solution?

The economy is growing, and people use more effective means to fight AIDS. At the same time, Africa has become a natural participant in international affairs. Globalization has also brought benefits to Africa. More and more Africans move to a more prosperous continent, and their remittances to their families are higher than foreign aid and direct investment.

However, there is also bad news: none of the above factors is enough for Africa to achieve sustainable prosperity. In the next decade, Africa will face ten major problems, three of which are old problems, namely, poverty eradication and development, government management and peace and security.

Can Africa eradicate poverty through effective and sustainable development? This problem will remain the main problem facing Africa in the next decade. The goal for 2006 and beyond is to make the international community abide by its commitments.

Secondly, management issues. The question is simple. Only those countries that have established responsible governments through democratic elections, pursued policies that should be implemented, adopted transparent measures to resist corruption, and re-established human rights and the rule of law will succeed.

Finally, I would like to talk about the progress made in eliminating the conflicts that have plagued Africa since its independence. Obviously, people have not succeeded in achieving lasting peace. These are all old problems in Africa.

However, there are still many new problems that are becoming more and more important.

The first problem is terrorism. Africa is particularly dangerous. Al-Qaeda and its local branches have made some assassinations that caused casualties. There is no doubt that the threat of terrorism facing Africa will intensify in the next decade.

Second, the issue of immigration. Dealing with immigration is good for everyone. Illegal immigration is not good for everyone, and stowaways may be exploited and forcibly repatriated.

The increase of crime and drug smuggling in Africa is also a serious problem with bad influence. As a result, the image of the African continent was damaged. Undoubtedly, the threat of crime will intensify, and criminals outside Africa will continue to operate in Africa.

Energy security is more and more important. For the long-term security of the international community, Africa must remain stable and need to start a successful process. Therefore, it is best to make Africa's oil revenue accounts transparent and let these revenues serve the African people.

Climate change and environmental degradation are global phenomena. However, Africa is not unrelated to this. If African powers cooperate with us within the framework of international agreements such as the Kyoto Protocol, Africa may contribute to finding a solution. If Africa successfully protects its forests, these forests will reduce the risk of environmental degradation.

The good relationship between Africa and Islam is also a big problem, because there are more Muslims in Africa than in the Middle East, and extremists want social division and are in a state of war.

In the past year or two, people have seen China's influence increase obviously. Britain thinks this is good news. It hopes that the presence and influence of China will promote the process set by the African Union itself: supporting democratic and responsible management, supporting transparent procedures of enterprises, supporting economic growth and poverty reduction, and supporting human rights and a country ruled by law.

All these old and new problems have two things in common: first, most of them can't be solved by themselves. Second, if a prosperous, democratic, stable and well-led country is not established, no problem can be solved. (
