Article 13 Foreigners residing in China must hold identity documents or residence certificates issued by the competent authorities of the China government. The validity period of identity documents or residence certificates shall be determined according to the reasons for entry. Foreigners residing in China shall submit their certificates to the local public security organs within the specified time.

Article 14 Foreigners who need to stay in China for a long time to invest in China or engage in economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation with enterprises and institutions in China according to the laws of China may obtain the qualification of long-term residence or permanent residence with the approval of the competent authorities of the China government.

Article 15 Foreigners who request asylum for political reasons are allowed to stay in China with the approval of the competent authorities of the China government.
