Language requirements of skilled immigrants in Canada
Canadian federal skilled immigrants resumed accepting applications and implementing new standards on May 4th. At the same time, the list of 24 new occupations was announced. However, the number of places in the new program is extremely limited, with no more than 5,000 applicants worldwide and a maximum of 300 applicants for each occupation. The age and language control are stricter.
After the opening of the new federal skilled immigrants, the full score is still 100, and the passing score is still 67, but the scoring standard has been adjusted: the minimum language threshold has been raised to the Canadian language standard CLB7 (6 points), while the old system can apply successfully as long as the total score reaches 67 points. In terms of age, the new standard stipulates that applicants under 35 can get 12 full marks, applicants over 46 can get 1 full marks, and applicants over 46 can get zero marks. The work experience is reduced from the previous 2 1 to 15. If you want to get full marks, applicants need to have 6 years of relevant work experience, not 4 years; Applicants' academic qualifications or certificates must pass the evaluation and certification of designated Canadian institutions, otherwise they will be considered invalid. In addition, the spouse's adaptability score will shift the focus to language ability, and it is estimated that the spouse (sub-application) will be required to provide IELTS 5 points.
Applicants must be engaged in a new occupation in the list of technical occupations, and must have at least one year of continuous work experience to be eligible to apply. It is worth mentioning that the new occupation of computer engineer is good news for the applicants of this major in China.
The New Deal reflects that Canadian federal skilled immigrants are more inclined to young applicants with excellent language skills (English or French), and it only takes about one year to complete the approval of re-opened skilled immigrants' applications, instead of waiting for several years as before. Those who meet the application criteria and want to apply for skilled immigration to Canada through the New Deal should make preparations for their application as soon as possible, especially improve their language skills, so that they can pass the examination and approval as soon as possible after the implementation of the New Deal.
