There are several Chinese dialects in Beihai, mainly Qinzhou dialect, Minnan dialect and Hakka dialect. The local dialect is Lianzhou dialect, a sub-dialect of Cantonese, which is distributed in Lianzhou Town, Dangjiang Town, Shagang Town, Xichang Town, Wu Jia Town, Xingdaohu Town, Shiwan Town, Shikang Town, Changle Town, Dijiao Town, Gaode Town, Fucheng Town, Yintan Town and Weizhou Town in Yinhai District of Beihai City. Hakka is spoken in Zhakou Town, Guangong Town, Baisha Town and Zhang Qu Town of Hepu County. Seaside dialect is a branch of Minnan dialect, which is popular in shatian town, Hepu County. As for the Cantonese spoken in Beihai City, Yinhai District, tieshangang district and Shankou Town of Hepu County, namely Beihai Dialect, it is the most official dialect in Beihai today and belongs to the Qinlian language family of Cantonese. Since the reform and opening up, a large number of northern immigrants have merged into Beihai, and Beihai dialect has gradually weakened.

The language use pattern in Beihai urban area is characterized by three pillars: clean Cantonese, Hakka and Putonghua.
