State relations in the Arab Maghreb Union

The five countries of Mali established a "5+5" dialogue with France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Malta on June 5438+0990165438+10, aiming at strengthening mutual cooperation, promoting common development and maintaining peace and security in the western Mediterranean region. In February 2003, the first "5+5" summit was held in Tunisia. The meeting adopted the Tunisia Declaration around five topics: regional security and stability, economic integration, society and humanities, dialogue between cultures and civilizations, and strengthening political consultation.

In June 2004, the fourth "5+5" foreign ministers' meeting of the western Mediterranean was held in Oran, Algeria. The meeting decided to establish an independent security mechanism for Euro-Mediterranean countries, strengthen anti-illegal immigration and anti-terrorism activities, and stressed that Malaysia-EU economic integration is the basis for establishing a Euro-Mediterranean free trade area. In June 5438+February, 2005, the second meeting of "5+5" defense ministers in the western Mediterranean was held in Algiers, Algeria. The meeting adopted a program of action aimed at strengthening security in the western Mediterranean region.

From June 5th to1October, 2008, the 6th "5+5" Foreign Ministers' Meeting of the Western Mediterranean was held in Rabat, Morocco. The meeting discussed regional integration and other issues, and urged countries in the region to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism, combating illegal immigration and maritime security.

In May 2009, the "5+5" meeting of defense ministers of the western Mediterranean was held in Tripoli, Libya, to discuss joint efforts to combat illegal immigration, mine clearance and peace and security in the Mediterranean region.

20 10 in February, the defense ministers of 27 European countries and five southern Mediterranean countries of the "5+5" mechanism held a joint meeting in Maiorca, Spain, to discuss cooperation in dealing with regional security threats, combating terrorism, drug smuggling and organized crime. In April, the 8th Mediterranean "5+5" Foreign Ministers' Meeting was held in Tunisia, calling for the immediate resumption of the Middle East peace process on the basis of the "two-state plan".

In the same month, the first Ministerial Conference on Environment and Renewable Energy of Mediterranean "5+5" Dialogue Countries was held in Oran, Algeria. The meeting adopted the Oran Declaration and established the "Mediterranean Sustainable Development Testing Institute" in Oran.

20 13 April, the first "5+5" Summit of Speakers of Parliament in the Western Mediterranean was held in Marseille, France. The parties exchanged views on strengthening cross-strait cooperation, jointly coping with challenges such as democratic transformation and economic development, and strengthening exchanges and cooperation between parliaments. In the same month, the15th "5+5" meeting of interior ministers of the western Mediterranean was held in Algiers, Algeria, and all parties exchanged views on strengthening the fight against terrorism and illegal immigration. In the same month, the 10th Western Mediterranean "5+5" Foreign Ministers' Meeting was held in Nouakchott, Mauritania.
