Shenzhen, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province, is also called Pengcheng. It is a sub-provincial city, a city under separate state planning and a megacity in Guangdong Province. It is also a China Special Economic Zone, a national economic center city and an international city approved by the State Council.
The earliest predecessor of Shenzhen was Baoan County, Guangzhou. The name of Shenzhen was recorded in the eighth year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty (14 10). 1979 Shenzhen was founded, and 1980 became the first special economic zone in China, the window of China's reform and opening up and a new immigrant city, creating a world-renowned "Shenzhen speed".
