Mexico is a bit messy on the American border. If you go to their port city, it's nothing, and there's nothing specifically aimed at Chinese. Mexico City is much better, but when the city is big, there are all kinds of birds. There are many South American immigrants there, and some Zona (regions) are relatively poor. You'd better not go, and close the door when you pass by. Robbery happens from time to time. You'd better have local friends over there.

Other smaller cities, especially tourist cities and coastal cities, are safe.

The salary level is hard to say. In 2006, I remember that the local people (with high school education) working in general factories were 2,500-3,500 RMB, and in the case of offices, it should be 4,500-8,000 RMB, which I think is similar to that in China.

The exchange rate has changed in the past two years, so I can't say for sure.

If you are young, don't worry too much. Take a look outside. Making money is not the first priority!
