Introduction to Shinjuku Story

"Shinjuku Incident" is a literary film that Ye Dongsheng has been preparing for 10 years. Yesterday, reporters learned that the film will be jointly produced by China Film Group, Poly Bona and Emperor Hong Kong. The film tells the story of the experiences of Chinese people from various provinces in Shinjuku, Japan. In addition to the previously confirmed starring roles of Jackie Chan, Daniel Wu and Japanese actor Ken Watanabe, mainland actor Xu Jinglei became the female lead.

The entire film was shot in Japan, and the actors' dialogue will be largely in Japanese. After Jackie Chan attended an event in Beijing, he flew to Tokyo, Japan, that day. According to Polybona President Yu Dong, the cast of "Shinjuku Incident" has a tight schedule and does not have time to hold a start-up ceremony. The actors will be fully involved in filming after arriving in Japan.

Director Er Dongsheng revealed that Shinjuku, Japan was built by Chinese and many immigrants lived in it. The story of the film is adapted from the real events of these immigrants. Jackie Chan plays a tractor driver from Northeast China who later settled in Japan. There are many literary scenes and few martial arts scenes, and there are only some real fights with the police and gangsters.

The entire film will be filmed in Japan for two to three months, and the release date is set for September 2009 to seize the National Day slot.
