Colin Luther Powell 1937 was born in new york, USA on April 5th. His parents are Jamaican immigrants, his father is a porter and his mother is a sewing worker. Powell spent his college time in City University of new york, and obtained a bachelor's degree in geography in 1958. During my study at school, I joined the reserve officer training team and was awarded the rank of second lieutenant after graduation. After completing the basic training of an infantry officer, he was sent to Germany and promoted to lieutenant. Subsequently, he was sent to Denvins, Massachusetts, Campbell, Kentucky, Leavenworth, Kansas and Carson, Colorado.

From 1962 to 1969, Powell was sent to Vietnam twice to participate in the war. 1969 After returning from Vietnam, he entered George Washington University and graduated with an MBA in 197 1. After graduation, he was assigned to the office of the Deputy Assistant Chief of Staff of the Pentagon. From 1973 to 1974, he served as the brigade commander of the US military stationed in South Korea. Since then, he has served as brigade commander of the 2nd Brigade and head of the 5th Regiment of the1KLOC-0/Airborne Division of the US Army stationed in Germany, senior military assistant of the US Deputy Secretary of Defense and senior military assistant of the Secretary of Defense. 1987 1 February to 19891month, served as president Reagan's national security adviser.

1989, President George Bush appointed Powell as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and was promoted to a four-star general. Powell is the first black man to hold this post in American history and the youngest chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. During his tenure, Powell participated in and pointed out major events such as the US invasion of Panama, the invasion of the Philippines and Somalia. 1990, under the command of Powell, the US military won the Gulf War. Because of Powell's outstanding contribution in the Gulf War, the United States Congress awarded him the highest honor award in the United States-the Gold Medal. 1On September 30, 1993, Powell retired and immediately resigned as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
