On the Types of IELTS Test
There are two kinds of IELTS, academic (A) and training (G). Academic and training courses are exam types set for different purposes, so the requirements for language skills of these two types of exams are different.
Academic category (category A) is suitable for studying abroad, applying for undergraduate, postgraduate and above degrees, or obtaining professional qualifications.
Training (G) is suitable for English-speaking countries to apply for immigration (such as Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Britain), or to apply for training and non-diploma courses.

This test only tests the examinee's oral English and listening level, and it takes 22 minutes. In an exam, two candidates will be evaluated by an examiner. IELTS examiners will simultaneously evaluate the performance of candidates in listening and speaking tests according to four points: information acquisition, information transmission, oral expression and participation in discussion.
The IELTS life skills test requires taking the test at the IELTS test center authorized by the UK Visa and Immigration Service (UKVI). Examination results are generally available within 7 days after the end of the examination.
