The Linguistic Relationship of Xiang Dialect

In the course of its historical formation, Xiang dialect was deeply influenced by the immigrants of Mandarin and Gan dialect in previous dynasties, so there was an imbalance in Xiang dialect, which was manifested in the differences in literary and colloquial reading, pronunciation and vocabulary level. It is always complicated for people to judge whether a dialect belongs to Xiang dialect. In the early days, the pronunciation method of initials was almost standard. There are some transitional languages between the old and new Xiang dialects. For example, Nandashan in Yuanjiang belongs to Changyi film in the new Xiang dialect, but it retains a set of voiced initials. For example, the initials of some chapters in Ningxiang Huitang dialect, a piece of Changyi dialect in the new Xiang dialect, are also influenced by the neighboring Xiang dialects in the old Xiang dialect.
