Alberta's immigration policy for studying abroad

Canada's Ming Pao reported that the newly established immigration project of Alberta Nominated Immigration Project (AINP) is a "strategic recruitment flow graduate labor category". The new category is applicable to applicants who have studied in various public institutions in Canada, and graduates who have studied in private schools recognized by Alberta for one year or more. However, the applicant must hold a "work permit after graduation" issued by the Immigration Department, and must work full-time in a company in Alberta at the time of application.

It is reported that AINP used to accept foreign students or temporary workers to apply for immigration, but the old categories all required "employer application". Due to the cumbersome application procedures, sometimes the company where the applicant works is unwilling to issue an "employer's application", which makes many international students unable to apply. The newly established immigration category has solved this problem, not only canceling the requirement of "employer's application", but also canceling the requirement of accumulating one year's work experience and engaging in work related to the major studied in the Canadian Experience Category (CEC) immigration plan.

In addition, the new categories are applicable to all kinds of occupations, including category 0 (management work), category A (technical work), category B (semi-skilled or mechanic) and category C (low-skilled work) of the National Vocational Code (NOC). Alberta has also compiled a "List of Unqualified Occupations" to help applicants understand whether their jobs are qualified.

According to the staff of the Immigration Department of Alberta, although employers are not required to fill in new application forms, applicants still need to obtain employment certificates from employers and explain their work contents, and prove that their salary has reached the average level of similar jobs in Alberta enterprises.
