What should be done with OPT in the United States?

"OPT (optional practical training) refers to the identity permit for students to work legally in the United States after graduation. The licensing department is USCIS. You need to apply for an EAD card to start working. Before you get an EAD card, students can't work legally in the United States, and American companies are basically afraid to pay students, otherwise they will work illegally. One advantage of having an EAD card is that students can apply for SSN even if they don't have a job. At the same time, the salary during OPT's work can be tax-free, which is actually very good. For OPT applications, students can apply for OPT as long as they are F 1 students, have completed credits and graduated, and their degrees have been recognized by the United States for more than a whole academic year. It should be pointed out here that students' CPT time cannot exceed 12 months, otherwise it will affect students' OPT application.

Application process and material delivery:

Bring the materials required by ISSO school to apply for the new I-20 form recommended by ISSO. Students are generally required to bring their passports, visas, I-94 and all I-20 s. Students have downloaded the complete I-765 form and OPT recommendation application form. Some schools have to pay a service fee of 100 yuan.

After getting the new I-20, mail it to the designated address together with all other materials required by USCIS.

Step three, wait for the EAD card. After the students' materials are sent, the students will receive a paper receipt of OPT application mailed to the students, and keep this receipt well. In the future, students will use this receipt to check the progress of OPT application online, which is urgent. While waiting for the EAD card, students can also take the time.
