Brief introduction of Pingtou township

Township * * * governs 24 administrative villages and 38 natural villages, with a total of 3,998 households and a total population of15,570, with a total land area of 74 square kilometers, and governs Pingtou, Hushan, Fanbaotou, Ciyaogou, Zhaojiashan, Hujiashan, Dongshe, Lijiashan, Pengfengshan, Nanzhuang, Sizhuang and Peng Feng. Among them, the cultivated land area is 35,730 mu, the economic forest 1 1360 mu, the timber forest is 4,200 mu, and the rest are barren hills, slopes and floodplains. There are 16000 mu of terraced fields, 1800 mu of gully dam land and 17930 mu of sloping land in the cultivated land, all of which are dry land, and the dam land is a life-saving field for the masses. Mainly planting millet, beans, potatoes, corn, sunflowers, peanuts and other crops, it is a miscellaneous grain producing area in the whole region, and the economic forest is mainly red dates, but also some walnuts, melons and fruits. Aquaculture is just scattered family farming.

The local natural resources are extremely unbalanced. Coal, bauxite and limestone are extremely rich in reserves, but overall water and animal resources are scarce, especially water resources. Drinking water for people and livestock mainly comes from rainwater collected by dry wells.

Yangko with umbrella head is the most popular traditional folk art form in the local area.

Jujube is the only local specialty. The local jujube is of good quality and delicious meat, but it is not suitable for processing and needs to be improved step by step.

Most of the territory of the township belongs to the Suishui River system in Linxian County, where surface water is scarce and there is no clear water passage. It is usually a dry ditch, but there will be a short-term flood after heavy rain. The groundwater level is deep, so it is difficult to develop and utilize it.
