The Three Gorges Basin, also known as the Xiajiang River or the Great Three Gorges, is located on the main stream of the Yangtze River in Chongqing, Enshi and Yichang, China. The Three Gorges reservoir area refers to the areas flooded by the Three Gorges Project of the Yangtze River and 20 counties with resettlement tasks, mainly including the differences in regional geographical location and river control.

The Three Gorges reservoir area has flooded 129 towns, including two medium-sized cities such as Wanzhou and Fuling, and more than a dozen small cities, which will generate11300,000 people. Immigration is the biggest difficulty of the Three Gorges Project, and 45% of the total investment is used for resettlement.
