Zhang Shicheng, formerly known as Zhang, was born in a poor family in Baijuchang, Xinghua, Taizhou (now Dafeng, Yancheng) on July 30th of the first year (132 1). In order to support his family, Zhang Shicheng has been "transporting salt" on Bai Juchang's official salt boat since he was ten years old, selling coolies to subsidize his family. According to historical records, Zhang Shicheng is "not brawny, Ren Xia is full of energy", and he is generous and generous, which is somewhat similar to Song Jiang in Water Margin. As long as friends on the Jianghu go to him when they are in trouble, Zhang Shicheng will give generously to help others, even though his family is too poor.

It is because of this American friendship that he was very prestigious in Shili Baxiang, and everyone called him Big Brother when they saw him.

At that time, the income from transporting salt to the government was very small. Zhang Shicheng has always wanted to earn some money by sideline business, but he has never had a chance. On one occasion, he had a drink with several fellow villagers and talked about it. I didn't know that these fellow villagers also had the idea of working part-time as a sideline. At that time, the wine emboldened people, and as soon as everyone got together, they started the business of selling smuggled salt (this is decapitation).

From then on, when they shipped salt to the government, they took some salt when others were not looking, and then secretly sold it to some rich local households after work. They thought it was risky, but at least they could make money. Unfortunately, they later found that things were not as simple as they thought.

Many local rich people expressed their desire to buy smuggled salt from Zhang Shicheng. At that time, there was a policeman named Qiu Yi in Baijuyi Salt Field, who specially supervised the salt people to go out to work and catch smugglers. When I mentioned Qiu Yi, I felt angry in my heart. He is not a thing. Not only does he often deduct the salary of the salt people for no reason, but he also pays tribute to him every month. If you are slightly dissatisfied, you will punch and kick the salt people. Zhang Shicheng and Yanmin were awed by his arrogance, but they always dared to speak out.

There is a saying that "if you don't break out in silence, you will perish in silence." Finally, one day, Zhang Shicheng and others broke out.

In the 13th year of Zheng Zheng (1353), one night in the first month, four brothers Zhang Shicheng and 17 brave salt people, including Li Bosheng, got together to drink and drank three cups, and the topic naturally opened. Zhang Shicheng said, we people are beheaded with the death penalty, doing the beheading business of selling smuggled salt. Now, instead of getting rich, we are threatened by rich people and take our salt for nothing many times. After all smell speech, they nodded and sighed. In the end, everyone comes together, so it's better to do the opposite.

That night, eighteen people took advantage of the dark and bloody Cao Yanchang Arctic Temple, picked up the guy who usually eats (carrying a pole of salt), sneaked into the home of Qiu Yi, a salt policeman, and killed the bully with a stick. Subsequently, 18 people rushed into the homes of local rich households, opened the granaries, distributed food to local people who had no food to eat, and then set them on fire.

After the news spread, the salt workers working in the saltworks also started to strike, and they went to take refuge in Zhang Shicheng, elected him as the leader, and captured Taizhou.

Rich, the magistrate of Gaoyou (the top scholar in Yuan Dynasty), surrendered to Zhang Shicheng and others, but soon, Zhang Shicheng changed his mind, killed Zhao Lian, the provincial governor, and captured Xinghua, further gaining tens of thousands of people.

At that time, there were many wars and the Yuan government had no time to take care of them, so it sent people to surrender to Zhang Shicheng and promised him "ten thousand households" (big official positions). But Zhang Shicheng was too young to accept it. He attacked Gaoyou by surprise, and Ricky led the army to rescue him. Zhang Shicheng lied that he was willing to surrender and let Ricky talk in town. Ricky doesn't know how to cheat, and he is tied to the head of the city when he enters the city. Zhang Shicheng laughed at Chengtou, took Ricky hostage and told him to kneel down.

Ricky has a lot of backbone. He would rather die than kneel. He cursed, "My knees are like iron. How can I be wronged by a thief! " Zhang Shicheng was furious and tried to knock him down, but to no avail, he finally ordered Ricky to be killed and his knees cut off. Every time I see this place, I always feel that Zhang Shicheng is not a thing. ) In this way, Zhang Shicheng captured Gaoyou, claiming to be "King", with the title of "Da Zhou" and the title of "God Bless".

You have to pay it back when you come out to hang out. Zhang Shicheng cheated and fell again and again, and also killed the national cadres of the Yuan Dynasty. Finally, he gained great popularity and aroused the anger of the Yuan Dynasty. In the 14th year of Yuan Dynasty (1354), in September, the prime minister of Yuan Dynasty broke away and led a million troops to surround Gaoyou. When Zhang Shicheng saw an isolated city in Gaoyou, he called it invalid every day, and his intestines were green with shame. This time, he really wanted to surrender to the Yuan Dynasty in Kaesong.

However, Tuotuo's reply made Zhang Shicheng faint from crying in the toilet. Tuotuo replied that your child should not do this. This time, I am determined to capture Gaoyou and slaughter the people in the city. Why do Tuotuo insist on this? I think there are two main reasons.

First, Zhang Shicheng has no credibility and Tuotuo doesn't believe that he really surrendered. Zhang Shicheng is the child in the story of "Wolf". He made many false surrenders, deceived the Yuan government and killed officials. He has no credit at all, and Tuotuo is not Ricky, so this time he no longer believes in Zhang Shicheng's surrender and is determined to capture Gaoyou and massacre. (Actually, Ricky's business is just around the corner. I believe that no one with a little brains will accept Zhang Shicheng's surrender. )

Second, Tuotuo wants to establish prestige in Jiangnan and warn other rebels. At the end of the yuan dynasty, there were uprisings everywhere, and the government could not control them for a while. Tuotuo wanted to capture Gaoyou and then slaughter the city, so as to establish prestige in Jiangnan and warn Zhu Yuanzhang and other Jiangnan anti-thieves not to act rashly. To put it bluntly, it is actually killing Zhang Shicheng, a chicken, just to show the monkeys in Jiangnan (Jiangnan rebelled against the king).
