Slovenia, officially known as Slovenia, is a country in south-central Europe. Formerly a part of Yugoslavia, it was one of the earliest independent countries after the disintegration of Yugoslavia in 199 1. Slovenia borders Austria to the north, Italy to the west, Croatia to the east and Adriatic Sea to the south. Slovenia is a developed country in Europe and a member of the European Union, NATO, OECD and European Schengen countries. It held the rotating presidency of the European Union in the first half of 2008. Slovenia is famous for its beautiful scenery, low price, harmonious environment, high quality education and sound social security system. It is a popular tourist destination and immigrant country.
