Shenzhen, referred to as Pengcheng for short, is a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province and a city with separate plans. It is a megacity, a special economic zone, a national economic center city and a national innovative city approved by the State Council, and one of the core engine cities of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Located in the south of the Tropic of Cancer, east longitude 1 13 43' to1438', north latitude 22 24' to 22 52', bordering Daya Bay and Mirs Bay in the east and the Pearl River Estuary and Lingdingyang in the west.
The whole terrain is high in the southeast and low in the northwest, mostly low mountains and hills, with a gentle platform in the middle and a coastal plain in the west. It belongs to subtropical monsoon climate, warm and pleasant, with abundant rainfall.
The predecessor of Shenzhen was Bao 'an County, the main part of which belonged to Xin 'an County of guangzhou fu in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and belonged to Huiyang area before the city was built. The name of Shenzhen was first discovered in the eighth year of Yongle in Ming Dynasty (14 10), and Shenzhen was established in 1979.
1980 became the first special economic zone established in China, the window of China's reform and opening up and a new immigrant city, creating the world-famous "Shenzhen Speed" and being known as "Silicon Valley of China". In 2022, Shenzhen achieved a regional GDP of 3,238.768 billion yuan, with a per capita GDP of183,274 yuan.
Although the development history of Shenzhen Special Economic Zone is only over 40 years, it has a history of more than 6,700 years of human activities (aborigines lived in Shenzhen in the middle of Neolithic Age), 6,000 years of human development and marine economic development, 1700 years of urban development, 600 years of coastal defense, and a long history of Guangfu people and Hakka immigrants.
