The Secret Garden is a children's literature written by American woman writer Francis Hodgson Burnett.

Francis Hodgson Burnett (1849 ~ 1924), a world-renowned writer of children's literature in English, was born in Manchester, England, spent his childhood in England, and immigrated to Tennessee with his family in 1865. Representative works include Little Jazz, The Secret Garden and Little Princess. These three novels were all the rage, published dozens of versions, and were adapted into movies and TV series many times.

1905, she officially became an American citizen. She was married twice, and Burnett was her first husband's surname. 1873, she married Dr. S.M.Burnett and gave birth to two sons.

1886, she published the novel "Little Master fauntroy", which tells the story of an American boy who became the heir to the British Earl. Since then, "fauntroy" has become an English vocabulary, meaning "children who are overdressed".
