Let’s first talk about its special geographical location. It is located in the northwest of Gansu Province, the northeast of the Hexi Corridor, and the lower reaches of the Shiyang River Basin. It is surrounded by the Tengger Desert and the Badain Jaran Desert on the east, west and north. It is adjacent to Liangzhou District of Wuwei City in the south, Jinchang, the nickel capital, in the west, and connected with the Left and Right Banners of Inner Mongolia in the northeast and northwest. However, in recent years, with the care of leaders at all levels and the strong support of the elders in the hometown and people from all walks of life, the Minqin People’s Congress Efforts have been made to prevent and control desertification, with extraordinary results. Since the strong sandstorm on April 24, 2010, there has never been such a sandstorm again.
