Shenzhen’s earliest predecessor was Bao’an County, Guangzhou. The name Shenzhen first appeared in historical records in the eighth year of Yongle (1410) in the Ming Dynasty. The earliest predecessor of Shenzhen was Bao'an County, Guangzhou. The place name "Shenzhen" first appeared in historical records in 1410 (the eighth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty), and was built in the early years of the Qing Dynasty. The local dialect commonly calls the ditches in the fields "Zhen" or "Yong". Shenzhen is named after its dense marshes and a deep ditch next to the village. ?
