Collect information about the Yellow River

The Yellow River is a big river in the north of China, with a total length of about 5,464 kilometers and a drainage area of about 752,443 square kilometers. One of the longest rivers in the world, the second longest river in China.

The Yellow River originated in Zhaqu at the southern foot of ChaHasila Mountain, bayan har branch of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, in the south it originated in Kariqu at the northern foot of Geyaya Mountain, bayan har branch, and in the west it originated in Yueguzong music in the west of Xingsuhai. It is shaped like a "few" and flows from west to east through nine provinces (autonomous regions) including Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan and Shandong, and finally flows into the Bohai Sea.

In the historical period, the Yellow River has also evolved in the upper and middle reaches of the plain, and some of them have changed greatly. For example, the Hetao reach in Inner Mongolia, below Dengkou before 1850, is mainly divided into two tributaries, the northern branch is the mainstream, the Wu Jia at the foot of Yinshan Mountain, and the southern branch is the present Yellow River.

Geomorphological characteristics of the Yellow River

The Yellow River basin starts from Bayan Kara in the west, reaches Yinshan Mountain in the north, Qinling Mountain in the south and Bohai Sea in the east. The inland potential in the basin is high in the west and low in the east, and the height difference is very large, forming three steps with high in the west and low in the east.

The highest step is the Qinghai Plateau where the source of the Yellow River is located. It is located in the northeast of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the famous "roof of the world", with an average elevation of more than 4,000 meters. A series of northwest-southeast mountain ranges stand, such as Qilian Mountain in the north, Qingshan Mountain in Anima and Bayan Kara in the south. The Yellow River twists and turns among the mountains in an "S" shape.

The mountains on both sides of the valley are 5500 ~ 6000m above sea level, and the relative height difference is1500 ~ 2000 m. Maqinggang, the main peak of Qingshan in Anima on the left bank of the Yellow River, is 6282 meters above sea level, which is the highest point in the Yellow River basin. The top of the mountain is covered with snow all year round, and the ice peaks are undulating, and there are thousands of scenes.

The Yogu Zonglie Basin at the northern foot of Bayan Kara is the source of the Yellow River. The source region of the Yellow River above Maduo has a wide valley and many lakes. The Yellow River flows out of Lake Ering, meanders eastward, passes between Qingshan and Bayan Kara in Anima, and reaches the junction of Qingchuan, forming the first big bend. Qilian Mountain crosses the northern edge of the plateau, forming the dividing line between Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and Inner Mongolia Plateau.

The terrain of the second step is gentle, and the loess plateau constitutes its main body with broken terrain. This staircase is roughly bounded by Taihang Mountain, with an altitude of 1000 ~ 2000m. The northern part of Baiyu Mountain is a part of the Inner Mongolia Plateau, including the Yellow River Hetao Plain and the Ordos Plateau. To the south of Baiyu Mountain is the Loess Plateau, and to the south are hills and Xiong 'er Mountain.

Hetao Plain starts from Zhongwei and Zhongning in Ningxia in the west and reaches Tuoketuo in Inner Mongolia in the east, with a length of 750 kilometers and a width of 50 kilometers and an altitude of 1200 ~ 900 meters. The elevation of the yinshan mountains in the northern part of Hetao Plain is1.500m, and the main peaks of Helan Mountain and Langshan Mountain in the west are 3554m and 2364m respectively. These mountains are like a barrier, blocking the invasion of Tengger, Wulanbuhe and other deserts on the Alashan Plateau into the hinterland of the Yellow River Basin.
