Can I apply for a Japanese visa in a different place in China?

Passports must be handled at the entry-exit permit office of the public security bureau where the household registration is located.

The visa is processed at the embassy (consulate) of the nearest destination country in China.

Each consulate has jurisdiction over visas for certain provinces and cities.

For example, there are Beijing Embassy, Shenyang Consulate, Shanghai Consulate, Chongqing Consulate and Guangzhou Consulate in embassies and consulates in China, USA.

The Beijing Embassy accepts visa applications from the following regions:

Beijing, Tianjin, Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Hubei, Hunan and Jiangxi.

The Consulate of Shenyang accepts visa applications from the following areas:

Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang.

The Shanghai Consulate accepts visa applications from the following regions:

Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui.

The Consulate of Chengdu accepts visa applications from the following regions:

Guizhou, Sichuan, Yunnan, Tibet, Chongqing.

Guangzhou Consulate accepts visa applications from the following regions:

Fujian, Guangdong, Hainan and Guangxi.
