Who's Who in Vancouver (issue 1)

Topic of this issue: I see Hong Xu's educational complex.

When I recorded an article about Ms. Xu Hong's educational complex (article link: this woman dared to discuss the great cause of education in China with Bill Gates of Niu Gensheng), I didn't expect it to cause a huge sensation in the Vancouver Chinese community. In just one day, nearly 9,000 people have read three reports about Ms. Xu Hong's educational charity in China. Ms. Xu Hong told me that I received countless phone calls this day, and the inquiries on WeChat flooded in. It can be seen that everyone has a strong interest and enthusiasm for how to better educate the next generation, better promote Chinese and help westerners learn and understand China.

In the numerous feedbacks, we interviewed several elites who are well-known in the Chinese community in Vancouver, and asked them to talk about Ms. Xu Hong (many people affectionately call her "Sister Xu")' s experience in promoting Chinese education.

The following words are in interview order, in no particular order.

Member of Richmond Constituency of British Columbia Parliament

Director, International Trade Division, Asia-Pacific Strategy and Multiculturalism Department, BC Provincial Government

Ms. Qu has devoted herself to improving the status and image of Chinese since she became a politician on 20 13. She successfully urged the BC provincial government to correct the unfair history of discriminating against Chinese in the past, and wrote the contribution of Chinese to the development of Canada into textbooks. Ms Qu said that she had long heard that Xu Hong was committed to serving the Chinese community. She thinks that Xu Hong is an example for China immigrants to lead everyone into the mainstream society. Her experience in training her daughter to learn Chinese has made her feel deeply about the plot of Chinese education in Xu Hong:

Partner of harvest fund Gem Consultant Co., Ltd.

Former Vice President of Hunter Dickinson Company (HDI)

"I envy the new and western Chinese learning methods, and I don't have to memorize them anymore."

Mr Hudson is a famous "China hand" in Vancouver. His relationship with China people can be traced back to more than 40 years ago. As early as when he was in college, he began to learn Chinese, because he was very interested in China history and China art history. For Xu Hong's contribution to promoting education in China, he commented:

Chairman of the International Multicultural Development Foundation?

Founder of Canadian Institute of Culture and Arts

Ms. Wei Meirong is committed to the integration of various countries and ethnic groups through cultural docking, and promotes the cultural exchange, integration and development between China, Canada and other parts of the world. In recent years, she also began to devote herself to education, especially education related to China culture. Although she knew Xu Hong a few years ago, she didn't know that Xu Hong had such a story in education:

Vancouver Art Director, China Cultural Center

Chairman of Vancouver Alumni Association of China Conservatory of Music

Mr. Ye has built a platform for the overseas spread and development of American culture for many years, and promoted the inheritance and promotion of American culture, especially American traditional music art in North China. Determined to tell the story of China in a beautiful way, spread the voice of China, and know the importance of Chinese for cultural communication. After reading the report about Xu Hong, he was deeply touched:

President of World Chinese Weekly?

Chairman of Time Kefa Group

World Chinese Weekly, founded by Mr. Zhang Hui, has been intensively cultivating China literature, full of humanistic details, and is unique among overseas Chinese newspapers and periodicals. This is also related to his profound literary plot. Writing is the key to literature and the foundation of inheriting culture. Therefore, after learning about Ms. Xu Hong's educational charity deeds, Mr. Zhang Hui was very moved:

Our reporter Qian Fang.
