According to the relevant regulations of the Railway Bureau, anyone with a valid certificate can take the high-speed train. This kind of valid certificate includes 24 kinds, such as resident ID card, temporary id card, People's Republic of China travel card, China People's Liberation Army soldier security card, army civilian cadre card, army retired cadre card, valid passport that can be used according to regulations, Hong Kong and Macao residents' pass to and from the mainland, mainland residents' pass to and from Taiwan, foreigner residence card and foreigner entry and exit card.

The Travel Permit to and from Hong Kong and Macao, commonly known as the Two-way Permit, is a travel document issued by the Exit-Entry Administration of People's Republic of China (PRC) and People's Republic of China (PRC) (namely, the State Exit-Entry Administration, with two brands in one organization) to China mainland residents for private travel to and from Hong Kong or Macao, visiting relatives, engaging in business, training, employment, studying abroad and other non-official activities.
