Why do people migrate?

In the process of population migration, there are mainly the following situations: (1) Population migration to resettle unemployed people and idle labor; (2) Population migration to support the construction of newly developed industrial bases; (3) Immigration Population migration caused by land reclamation to support frontier construction and new bases for agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry; (4) Population migration caused by the relocation, admissions and distribution of colleges and universities; (5) Population migration caused by newly built water conservancy and reservoir areas; (6) Compression of cities Population migration caused by population size; (7) A small amount of spontaneous migration. In general, population migration during this period was more controlled by national policies and household registration and other management systems, while spontaneous population migration and mobility were relatively rare. After liberation, in order to better build our motherland, the national government carried out a series of population migrations in an organized and planned manner. The main types are as follows: (1) Immigration to the interior after liberation in order to rationalize the distribution of productivity. In line with the direction of development, a large number of new industrial and mining bases and agricultural bases have been built in the mainland, and large-scale transportation construction has been carried out. In order to adapt to the development of this situation, a large number of workers, cadres, scientific and technological personnel and their families were mobilized from the densely populated areas along the eastern coast to support key development and construction areas, numbering several million. The migration areas are mainly the northeast, northwest and southwest regions. (2) Migration to newly built agricultural and forestry bases In order to build new agricultural and forestry bases, a large number of urban youths, demobilized soldiers and idle urban personnel migrated from the eastern coastal areas to the vast and sparsely populated border areas. The large-scale field corps in the early days of liberation were transformed into construction corps and the large number of urban youths who went to the mountains and countryside during the Cultural Revolution were examples of this type of immigration. (3) Distribution of graduates After liberation, hundreds of thousands of college and technical secondary school graduates entered the workforce every year. Among the graduates, in addition to some returning to their respective provinces, cities, and autonomous regions to arrange work, some responded to the national call and were assigned to work in key construction areas, remote mountainous areas, and culturally backward areas. (4) Immigration from disaster areas The number of immigrants is getting smaller and smaller. However, when production conditions are poor and natural disasters are insurmountable, a considerable number of residents still leave their hometowns and move to sparsely populated areas with better production conditions. (5) Reservoir immigration After liberation, my country's water conservancy construction industry has made brilliant achievements. Thousands of large and medium-sized reservoirs have been built. Residents in the reservoir submerged areas have to be relocated. Some of them need to be relocated nearby, and some need to be moved to other provinces. my country's current immigrants from the Three Gorges Reservoir Area are spread across almost half of China. (6) Immigration of special nature This type of immigration varies from country to country and region to region. In our country, due to economic construction or military needs, some residents have been relocated from densely populated areas to islands, frontiers and other places in an organized manner. Sometimes, when the sex ratio is imbalanced in certain areas, some young people of the opposite sex will be organized to move in to adjust the gender combination in the area.
