Studying in Ireland: What to do in Ireland?
First, school registration
The time and place of registration in each school will be notified by school mail, as long as you register at school on time as required. After the school completes the registration, it can deal with many things behind.
Please refer to the notice of each institution for the application materials, which generally include:
letter of admission
Tuition receipt
Passport, visa
insurance documents
registration form
Second, GNIB card registration
GNIB card is a card of Canadian Immigration Bureau. According to Ireland's policy, foreigners who come to Ireland to live for more than 90 days need to register at the immigration/police station and apply for a GNIB card.
The Irish visa for China students is valid for three months, which can be understood as "landing visa". After arriving in Ireland, you need to apply for a new visa at the immigration/police station before the visa expires, or not more than three months before entering the country, and register the GNIB card.
Students living in Dublin need to apply at the Immigration Bureau, and students from other areas need to apply at the local police station.
You need to make an online appointment at least 6 weeks in advance to apply for immigration.
For specific operation steps, please refer to the previous push (blue words can be clicked to jump): How to use GNIB reservation system? Let's see how the new system works!
First treatment of GNIB materials:
passport
Original school admission notice
Tuition receipt
Scholarship certificate (if any)
Medical insurance policy
Bank deposit certificate: if you stay for more than 6 months, the bank account balance should be 3000; If the stay time is less than six months, the bank account must have at least 500/ month income.
Handling fee 300 yuan (cash is not accepted, and payment can be made by bank draft, cheque or credit card).
Third, apply for a re-entry visa.
After handling the GNIB card, you can apply for a round-trip visa.
The round-trip visa can be said to be a feature of Ireland, and it is used when leaving Ireland and re-entering Ireland. If you hold a valid visa in Ireland but don't apply for a round-trip visa, you will still be refused entry next time. If you don't intend to leave the country within the validity period of the visa, then you don't need to apply for a visa.
There are three kinds of round-trip tickets: single round-trip (cost 60), multiple round-trip (cost 100) and emergency round-trip (cost 150). When applying for an emergency round-trip visa, you need to issue a departure certificate (such as an air ticket) within 48 hours.
Round-trip visas must be processed through Dublin Immigration Bureau, and there are two options: mailing and online booking. For international students, it is recommended to mail it, which is convenient and quick.

Fourth, apply for a mobile phone card.
There are many mobile phone operators in Ireland, and there are basically counters in airports, shopping malls and supermarkets. Let me introduce you to several major operators. Please consult the operators for specific tariff standards.
Vodafone Vodafone: Section 087, with the most stable signal coverage.
TescoMobile Tesco: Paragraph 089. International calls are relatively cheap, at 1c-2c per minute. The signal is poor.
Paragraph 3: 083. The traffic package is quite attractive, with unlimited traffic of 20 yuan per month, but the phone bill is more expensive.
Basically, it is free to call with the operator's number. There are two payment methods: BillPay and PrePay/Payasyougo.
BillPay is the so-called signing machine, which buys a new mobile phone at a low price and settles the balance by paying the phone bill in installments. The general contract of contract machine is between 12 months and 24 months. If you just want to change your mobile phone, this option is more favorable.
Prepaid/paid yougo will pay the phone bill monthly. Please refer to the websites of relevant operators for specific package prices and services.
Verb (abbreviation of verb) to apply for a bank card
Generally, every school has a cooperative bank. You can apply for a card according to the bank arranged by the school or the bank near the school. The main banks in Ireland are AIB Bank, Irish Bank and Ulster Bank.
There is no handling fee for withdrawing student accounts from the bank at present. When you apply for a bank card, you need to issue a certificate letter and ID card from the school, so as you can see, you can't go through all kinds of procedures without a certificate letter from the school, so you must register with the school first.
Different from China, for security reasons, the staff will not give you the card on the spot after the bank card is completed, but will mail the card and password to you twice. Usually, you will receive a complete bank card and initial password within one week after processing.
Sixth, handle the LeapCard bus card.
LeapCard are divided into two types: adult cards and student cards. Students are advised to get one. There will be discounts on taking public transport, and students can also enjoy discounts when shopping in many stores.
LeapCard has offices in major universities. You just need to bring your student ID card. Fee 10, freshmen may have free activities.
For more information about LeapCard, please check the previous push (click the blue jump):

If you work in Ireland, you need to apply for PPSN, which is your tax sign. After 20 14, students applying for PPSN must provide proof of application, such as scholarship and employer's letter, and the previous school letter will no longer be regarded as valid proof of application.
Other application materials include: valid passport and proof of address.
