Is the Syrian president white?

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is an Alawite Muslim, and his family holds the political power in Syria. Alawites are a branch of Islam, mainly distributed in Syria and Lebanon. Because Syria is a multi-ethnic and multi-religious country, the Syrian president can be said to be a representative of ethnic minorities, but it does not mean that he is white.
