The founder of Ford Motor Company is Henry Ford. Henry Ford was born on July 30, 1863 in Greenfield, Michigan. His parents were Irish immigrants, and Henry was the eldest of six brothers.

Henry Ford became a steam engine technician through self-study. In 1887, he joined the Detroit Edison Electric Light Company as a technician and was later promoted to chief engineer. He concentrated on designing automobiles and in 1896 he prototyped a two-cylinder, air-cooled, four-horsepower automobile. Henry resigned in 1898 and established the first automobile company, but it went bankrupt in 1900 after only producing 25 cars.
