Does it matter to cancel the PSW visa for studying in the UK?

UK study visa UK PSW visa cancelled

Does the cancellation of PSW visa in the UK affect our friends studying in the UK? Bian Xiao of the study abroad network analyzes them one by one.

The UK PSW visa, which has been implemented for more than three years, ended on April 20 12. The cancellation of PSW visa in Britain has no obvious influence on China students.

The full name of PSW visa is Post Study Worker. On June 30th, 2008, the British government officially introduced T 1 (points system) to replace the previous IGS visa. The purpose is to give international students with undergraduate, master's, doctoral and diploma diplomas two years to find jobs or engage in business activities in the UK after graduation, which is valid for two years. After the financial crisis, Britain launched PSW to attract more international students and revitalize the study abroad market. Jin Yue, director of the Future Overseas Study Department in the UK, believes that the introduction of PSW visa has really had some impact on students' choice of study destinations, and has become another selling point and hot spot for studying in the UK, which has played a positive role in promoting the overseas promotion of British education.

The cancellation of PSW is to combat the abuse of the student visa system and illegal employment, reduce the number of immigrants in Britain, and further prevent immigrants engaged in low-end jobs from coming to Britain to grab the jobs of local people. The underlying reasons are related to Britain's sluggish economy and high unemployment rate. After the cancellation of PSW, Britain introduced "T2 Visa" and "Graduate Entrepreneur Visa", which raised the threshold for obtaining a work visa. International graduates with bachelor degree or above still have four months to find jobs. As long as they find a job with a minimum annual salary of 20,000 pounds offered by a legitimate employer, they can get a T2 work visa to stay in the UK. International students who show entrepreneurial talent during their study abroad can apply for a postgraduate entrepreneurship visa. As long as they invest at least 50,000 pounds, they will have the opportunity to stay in the UK and start their own businesses. On the one hand, Britain's move is to reduce the number of immigrants and protect local workers, on the other hand, it is also to attract truly outstanding talents. They hope to stay overseas students who can contribute to Britain and create employment opportunities. The standards of these two methods are very high, which is of little practical significance to China students. For example, the "graduate entrepreneur" visa has only 1 000 places in the first year. First, it must be evaluated by the graduate's institution (HEIs) and its business plan must be recognized as "world-class innovative consciousness" before it can be selected into the quota list of 1 1,000 people. According to the rules of the Border Agency, all (eligible) institutions wishing to participate in the project can share this 1000 quota equally, which means that on average, each institution may only have about 10 quota.

In addition, applicants who have passed the screening still need to provide a capital injection review of 50,000 pounds when submitting their applications to obtain a visa with a term of 12 months. After the expiration, they will face strict review to determine whether their enterprises can operate "healthily" and obtain a second-phase visa with a term of 12 months. Many experts believe that it is better to return to China to start a business than to exchange 50,000 pounds for a one-year visa. China's relaxed entrepreneurial environment is more suitable for fledgling overseas graduates than Britain's strict auditing mechanism.
