When was the Sancang River in Dongtai dug and widened?
1957. According to the official website of the Dongtai Municipal Government, the Sancang River is located in the southeast of Dongtai City, Jiangsu Province, China, with a total length of 26.6 kilometers. At the end of 1957, the Dongtai County Government decided to excavate the Sancang River on a large scale to meet local irrigation needs and to provide for solidification. The township freed up more farmland. After several years of dredging and widening, the Sancang River has not only improved its ability to prevent floods and droughts, but has also become an important scenic spot in Dongtai City.
Dongtai City is a county-level city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province and is managed by Yancheng City. It is located in the center of Jiangsu Province and the southernmost tip of Yancheng City.
