The origin of Yanshi Shixia Village
Shixia Village was built in the Ming Dynasty. The village is located at the northern pass of Juyongguan and is a strategic location. It is said that Li Zicheng passed through this place when he entered Beijing and plundered it. Except for a few temples, everything else was reduced to ruins. During the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, government organizations immigrated here, and hundreds of people came one after another. The first ones to live here were those with the surname "Guo", and later those with the surname "Mei", as well as those with the surname "Dong" and Kang from Dongzhuangzi Village, Huailai County. Zhuang people with the surname "Liu" also settled here one after another. The entire village is of Han nationality.
