Really want to find a place to vent your thoughts?
Dear Secretary Fan, Secretary Lu, county leaders, town leaders, village leaders, brothers and sisters in my hometown, Happy New Year. Today is our welcome party. I'm giving a lecture in Hong Kong, so I can't bring a 20-minute video to the scene to meet you. First of all, I'd like to give you a report on what we have done in Tang Chi, why and why.
It has been seventy years since I left my hometown. I left at the age of ten, like a year before the Anti-Japanese War, so I still received a little traditional teaching in my hometown. I live in Dongxiang, which is now Shungang. Formerly called Hu Fang, there is a Wanjiayuan in that place. We all know from the premise that there is nothing now. When I was a child, I studied in a private school, which was located in the ancestral hall of Anhui. I didn't see the ancestral temple when I went back this time It was really said by the ancients. I live in a hut with an earthen wall. It's very cold at home and close to the White Lake. I remember that the White Lake is facing the gate of our house, about a mile long, and it is also a mile long to the river, forming a triangle. There used to be a Kannonji, a small temple, and Kannonji was gone, but the bridge was still there, and the small pond in front of Kannonji was still there. Apart from this, nothing else. In the past, this pond was surrounded by a forest When I was a child, I often went to collect firewood, so I felt deeply.
I have been wandering overseas for 70 years and have traveled many places. I came into contact with Buddhism when I was twenty-six. He is also our hometown Mr. Fang Dongmei. He is from Tongcheng, and we met him in Taiwan Province Province. He is a great philosopher in modern China. Young people are very interested in philosophy. Thanks to his enthusiastic teaching, he specially gave me this course, "Introduction to Philosophy". It is divided into several units, Western philosophy, China philosophy (this is a big unit, and there are small units in it), Indian philosophy, and the last unit is about Buddhist philosophy. I'm surprised. Because I am young and influenced by school education, I always think this is superstition; But my mother can't be said to be a devout Buddhist, but she does have that kind of sincere respect for Buddhists, Bodhisattvas and ghosts. So when I was young, my mother would take us to the temple to burn incense. Ye Fu would always go once or twice a year, and Chenghuang Temple would go several times a year, which left a deep impression on me. Older people may remember a story in our hometown, the relocation of the city god. I happened to live in the city on the day when the city god moved. It seems that I went to my grandmother's house to pay a New Year call during the Chinese New Year. After living in my grandmother's house for a few days, I met the thing that the city god moved. This is true, not at all.
We didn't know this until we got in touch with Buddhist philosophy. Teacher Fang told me that you are still young and you don't know. He said that "Buddhist philosophy is the highest peak of world philosophy" and added that "learning Buddhism is the highest enjoyment of life". I was drawn into Buddhism by these two words. That's not Buddhism. I corrected my misconception about Buddhist scriptures and came back. Later, he taught me Buddhism. He said that you should not go to temples or find monks. I feel strange, so where to go? He said that in the classics, he taught me to read Buddhist scriptures. His experience is much richer than mine. He told me that only in the classics can you see the real Buddhism, the real Buddhism. So I started to run the temple, and the purpose of running the temple was to find scriptures to read. Because there were very few Buddhist scriptures at that time, they were not sold outside and could not be found. We only went to the temple, where there is a Buddhist building, where we can borrow classics. We copied what the teacher instructed us to read, because the Tibetan scriptures were not lent out, and we only used Sunday and Saturday holidays to copy them.
I am very lucky. I have been in contact with Buddhist scriptures for less than two months. A friend introduced me to Master Zhang Jia, which is a great virtue. Master and I are also very close. The first day we met, I asked him a question. I said that I know the great success of Buddhism, the great success of Buddhism, and I know that there are many benefits. I said, is there any way for me to get involved soon? His old man smiled and said nothing. He looked at me for nearly half an hour. This teaching method is very special. It took him half an hour to calm my whole mood before he spoke. He speaks very slowly. The old man seemed to be sixty-four years old at that time. He was 64 years old when I met him. He left at 68. I met him at the age of sixty-four. Completely in the middle, no matter how you walk, how you talk, how you talk and how you behave, it's impressive and really different.
Tell me "I can see through, I can let go" before you start. I asked him where to start. He taught me to "give". From the beginning of giving, giving is to let go. After so many years, I began to learn Buddhism at that time, and it has been 55 years this year. In fifty-five years, I deeply realized that the teacher's teaching was very correct, and Buddhism really changed my destiny. He told me about giving. I have visited people in this world, no matter which country, nationality or religion. Do you want wealth? Everyone wants to get rich, so during the Chinese New Year, China people always "celebrate getting rich" together. They all want to be smart and wise, and they all want to live a long and healthy life, which is universally needed. Not only people, but also animals and hungry ghosts. This is what goes around comes around. Where did it come from? There must be a cause. Where does the fruit come from without repairing the cause? Where does wealth come from? From giving money; Where does wisdom come from? Fabsch is coming; Health and longevity come from fearless dedication, and we understand this truth! You said Buddhism taught people how to be realistic.
Buddhists, why are people short-lived? Short-lived is killing karma, killing life is short-lived, and letting life go; Stealing poverty, giving alms and giving money to get wealth, so it is completely clear that greed for ill-gotten gains is the cause of poverty. So when I was studying Buddhism at that time, it seemed that for about half a year, I chose to be a vegetarian, because I thought this was the way to live a long and healthy life. Su Chang is fearless in giving, does not eat the meat of all beings, and does not harm all beings; And know how to release and care for students. Because I was told my fortune in my early years, my life span was very short, so I studied according to the teachings of Buddhism and turned my life around.
Since 1999, I have seen social unrest and people suffering too much, so I hope the society can be stable and peaceful, and I think (living in Singapore at that time) there are nine religions in Singapore, and we will unite them. It was a great success. I immigrated to Australia in 2002, and the Australian Immigration Minister wanted me to help Australia unite religions and nationalities. After I arrived in Australia, I became attached to the university because the Australian government asked the university to carry out the work of religious and national unity. This is a good idea, because the school is fair and does not take sides. In this way, I will take part in this job at school.
After the 9 1 1 incident, the University of Queensland also looked for me. He knows that I have some experience in uniting all ethnic groups for peace. There is a peace college in the school. He invited me to hold two symposiums, and I gave him some advice. Where does the peace work begin? Start with your heart. Resolve all opposites, contradictions and doubts about all people, things and things from the heart, so that our body and mind can be harmonious, and people, races and nations, religions and countries can live in harmony. They were very happy and gave me an honorary doctorate and invited me to be a professor at the school. This is an international peace activity on behalf of the school and Australia. So I attended the United Nations International Peace Conference, and I attended it five times before and after.
Recently, I also attended an international peace forum convened by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahadi. I know many people who are concerned about resolving conflicts and promoting stability and peace. But it's no use thinking from here. This is indeed a social problem today and cannot be solved by force. I talked to President Bush about it. By the same token, the United Nations has held meetings for 35 years, but it has no effect and can't be solved. Is there any way to solve it? Teaching, so I thought of what the ancients in China said, "Governing the country and reassuring the people, teaching first." .
Teacher Yang and Cai brought some young people. In this place of Tang Chi, we decided to build a cultural and educational center, with the purpose of doing experiments and how to resolve contradictions. How to solve family conflicts, social conflicts, ethnic conflicts, religious conflicts and ethnic conflicts by law? We should start from ourselves. So, I'm glad to see these young people. Now they have been teaching in your place for two months, and they have started teaching in various villages. I heard it worked well. It is such a goal that we make an appearance here, so that people from all over the world who are engaged in resolving contradictions and promoting peace can visit and study in Tang Chi and Lujiang.
I told Miss Yang about this job during the preparatory period. I hope that after three years, our center will be handed over to the government to continue, and we will build another one elsewhere. The second one can stand up and look like it, and then it will be managed by local people, and we will build a third one somewhere else. China Goodall used to say, "You can't be a teacher before you start the ethos", so our cause is totally dedicated. Dedication, the place of Tang Chi is dedicated to my hometown and to the villagers in this area. Not only has ethical culture taken root and sprouted from here, but it has also revived, and people's lives have been truly blessed! If you understand these truths, "in Buddhism, everything is needed." There is nothing you can't ask for, such as wealth, wealth and children. Even if you want to become a Buddha, all these fame and fortune in the world are trivial things in Buddhism! Therefore, everything depends on education. You should explain the truth clearly and clearly, and then know how to be a man and get along with others. Our goal is here.
This year, the country will hold the World Buddhist Forum with the theme of "A harmonious world starts from the heart", advocating that "a pure heart means a clean country, a peaceful heart means peace for all, and a peaceful heart means world peace". Our education is how to restore our purity, how to restore our equality, purity and equality, and feel at ease. I hope our region can live the happiest and most satisfactory life in the world. It's already started. It's up to you to decide how long the locals want us to do it. You said you can do it now, I'll give it to you now, and we'll do it somewhere else. Because Shandong is so hospitable now, we have searched many times, and their leaders have also visited Lujiang. They are very satisfied and eager for us to build the second and third ones there. The second one is in Qingyun and the third one is in Qufu, China. Abroad, Indonesia and Malaysia all want us to build it quickly, so they want to build it and leave completely. I hope everyone will continue to work in this direction and towards a goal, and strive to restore the traditional ethics education in China.
Last year 10, when I first met with former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahadi, I talked about world peace. There are four pillars of world peace, namely, four kinds of education, namely, ethics education, moral education, causal education and religious education. These four major educations have been restored, the world is at peace, and all problems have been solved. Which of these four kinds of education is more convenient? Ethics in China, religion in foreign countries, it is easier to learn foreign religions. He also agreed, so he decided the next day that he would call this meeting, list my name, write a very sincere letter and invite me to attend. At that time, I left Tang Chi for Beijing for the last time. I was ill. Although the time is not long, it is quite serious. I got well and went to Hong Kong to recuperate, but he was sincere, so I went. I have fully recovered in recent days, probably this week, which is the blessing of my hometown elders. So I want to know what we are doing here. I am also touched by these people. They are not selfish and selfish. We have all made the greatest contribution to social security, the country, the nation and the suffering people all over the world.
This is what I told you today. I'll come back to see you when the weather is a little better. He invited me because there is a religious fellowship meeting of thirteen countries in Indonesia next month. The director of our State Bureau of Religious Affairs will bring a delegation from China to attend. There are five religions in China. This is a religious conference of thirteen countries in this part of Asia. Indonesia and I have a very good relationship. On the one hand, I visited my old friends and attended this meeting. So I may return to Hong Kong at the end of March, and then I will find time to go back and see our leaders and family. It's about time. Finally, I wish you good health and all the best. This is a custom in China. Congratulations on making a fortune, not only making a fortune, but also increasing wisdom, health and longevity. Thank you.
