The origin of the surname [Bear]
There are three sources of the surname Xiong: 1. Descendants of the Yellow Emperor. According to Shiben, Dialectics of Ancient and Modern Surnames Books and Yuanhe Surnames Compilation, Sun Youlian, the seventh son of the Yellow Emperor, is Zhou's surname, and his descendants, such as Chi Xiong, are Zhou Wenwang's teachers. Xiong Yi, the great grandson, takes Wang Fu as his surname. 2. After the Yellow Emperor had Xiong's family. According to the compilation of Yuanhe surname, it is said that the Yellow Emperor was born in Shouqiu, grew up in Jishui, and lived in the hill of Xuanyuan. His capital was Xiong (now Xinzheng, Henan Province), also known as Xiong's family, and later there were people who took the land as their surname, called Xiong's family. 3. He came from another family and changed his surname. The Miao nationality bears the surname of Xiong, and the Chinese surname is Xiong; The Pumi nationality is the tooth family, and the Han surname is the bear; When the Yi nationality took the bear as the original totem for five years, the Han surname was bear; In Sichuan and Gansu, the Chinese surnames of Baima people, such as Dona's, Reya's and Dumb Goo's, are bears. Today, Buyi, Yi, Man, Mongolia, Yao, Achang, Zhuang, Tujia and other ethnic groups all have this surname.
it's the ancestor raccoon. At the end of Shang Dynasty, man of great talent, a well-educated man, was once the teacher of Zhou Wenwang, and was named as the protector of the country. Its ancestor is the Yellow Emperor, whose son Changyi gave birth to Zhuan Xu, and the sixth son of Zhuan Xu IV, Sun Luzhong, is named Ji Lian, and Ji Xiong is the descendant of Ji Lian. Xiong Yi, the great-grandson of Kuaixiong, took the word Wang Fu as his surname and called it Xiongshi. In the Western Zhou Chengwang, Xiong Yi was appointed in Jingchu, and Chu was established, with its capital in Danyang (now southeast of Zigui, Hubei). During the Spring and Autumn Period, Chu was once powerful, and its influence extended to the Central Plains, making it one of the five tyrants in the Spring and Autumn Period. In 223 BC, Chu was destroyed by Qin, and later generations mostly took Xiong as their surname, and respected Xiong as the ancestor of the surname Xiong.
The bear surname originated in the ancient Chu State, that is, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi and other provinces. Naturally, this area became the main area where the bear surname first propagated. During the Qin and Han Dynasties, the Xiong surname still took the above places as the center of its reproduction and development, but there were also a few scattered in Henan, Hebei, Shandong and other places. During the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, Xiong's surname had moved to the vast areas in the south of China. After a long period of reproduction and development, it gradually flourished in Jiangling, Hubei Province, and Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, and some people went to the DPRK as officials one after another. Therefore, Xiong's surname was named "Nanchang" and "Jiangling". During the Tang and Song Dynasties, descendants of the surname Xiong migrated to Jiangsu and Zhejiang, while the surnames of Nanchang and Jiangling remained immortal, with talented people and numerous ethnic groups. According to the records of Taiping Universe in the Northern Song Dynasty, among the four surnames of Yuezhou (now Yueyang City, Hunan Province), the surname Xiong was the first of the five surnames of Yuzhang (now Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province). It can be seen that in the Song Dynasty, the surname Xiong was still widely distributed in Nanchang, Jiangxi and Yueyang, Hunan. In the early Song Dynasty, the surname Xiong, who moved to Fujian Jian 'an (now Jian 'ou County) and other places, gradually became a noble family, and many famous students came out later. At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, Yuan Shizu Kublai Khan sent troops to conquer the Southern Song Dynasty, and patriotic general Wen Tianxiang fought to the death, but the building was going to collapse, which was beyond the reach of a single tree, so the royal family of the Song Dynasty fled from Hangzhou to Fujian, and then Fujian retreated to the isolated island of Guangdong-Cliff Mountain. Wherever the Yuan soldiers went, they burned, killed and plundered, and the people fled on hearing the news. Therefore, some Xiong surnames in Jiangsu and Zhejiang moved to Fujian, and then they entered Guangdong from Fujian to avoid the fire of the soldiers. During the Hongwu period in the early Ming Dynasty, the surname Xiong, as one of the surnames of the aborigines of Sophora japonica in Hongdong, Shanxi in the Ming Dynasty, was moved to Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shaanxi and other provinces. After the Ming Dynasty, descendants of Xiong migrated to Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan and Hainan, and some of them were integrated into Miao, Shui, Buyi, Tujia and Achang ethnic minorities. By the Qing Dynasty, Xiong's surname had been scattered all over the country, and there were also bears from Fujian and Guangdong who crossed the sea to Taiwan and then moved overseas and lived in Singapore and other countries. Today, the bear surnames are mostly distributed in Hubei, Jiangxi, Sichuan, Hunan and other provinces, and the bear surnames in these four provinces account for about 66% of the population of the Han nationality in China.
