Where is Liu Xian Village?

Liu Xian Village, also known as Jian 'anshan, commonly known as Yau Tsim Village, is located in Zhaixia Village at the eastern end of Babuqiao Township, adjacent to Zhushuxia Village in Banshan Township. High mountains and steep roads, steep terrain, easy to defend but difficult to attack. During the Song and Yuan Dynasties, there were many snakes, birds and beasts in Linmi. But the top of the mountain is flat.

Liling's military disasters in the past dynasties were the most serious at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, with frequent wars, burning, killing and looting, and constant disasters and epidemics. Survivors often go out to hide. There are only about 200 households left in the county. The Republic of China edition of Liling County Records contains: "Residents with Ding, Li, Min, Peng, Jane, Huang, etc. 18 joined forces to avoid living in Jian 'an Mountain and build a village to protect themselves". Legend has it that in order to confuse the troops, the villagers woven straw sandals twice as big as ordinary people, hammered them into old ones and discarded them on the roadside near the foot of the mountain. Soldiers passing by occasionally see smoke from the mountain, want to find a way to climb the mountain, and see huge straw sandals. They thought there was a god on the mountain (savage) and dared not go up the mountain.

There is very little soil in Liuxianzhai, and residents rely on hunting game and eating grass-roots leaves to satisfy their hunger. I dare not go down the mountain easily every day. I have to climb branches and rocks because of an emergency. In addition to Liu Xianzhai, there are more than 20 households living in remote mountainous areas. Liling residents are mostly descendants of immigrants from Jiangxi, Guangdong and Fujian during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Later, people called the residents of Liu Xian Village 18 old curtilage households.

At the beginning of the Ming Dynasty, after the situation stabilized, the villagers agreed to reunite in Liu Xian Village once a year before returning to their ancestral home, and built a public house for accommodation and meals at the foot of the mountain. The number of broken kettles is 18 pieces, and each surname holds one piece as evidence. Due to the age, the annual reunion gradually faded and ended. The name "Zhaixia" came from this. At the top of Liuxianzhai Mountain, the remains of Zhaiji are still preserved, which is called Chengqiangping locally.

1in the spring of 945, during the fall of Liling, a brigade of rangers sent 16 men to build fortifications in Liu Xian village, using the cover of fog to fight against more than 300 Japanese troops equipped with steel guns and machine guns, killing more than 40 people at the cost of one death and one injury.
