Where is the specialty of Haidong chicken?

Germplasm country of origin: People's Republic of China (PRC) * * * and Qinghai province (city), county, township (town) and Haidong area.

The main producing area, distribution producing area and central producing area are Haidong area of Qinghai Province, mainly distributed in Ledu, Hualong, Huangzhong, Menyuan, Guide, Huangyuan, Datong and Tongde counties.

Haidong chicken, which formed history, was bred after a long period of time on the basis of local inherent chicken breeds and chicken breeds brought by immigrants from Gansu and other places in the past.

The color of cockscomb is small, mostly single tooth, 4-6 teeth, and a few are strawberry crown, pea crown or rose crown.

Physical characteristics: small size, shallow and long body, straight back and fluffy feathers.

Other features

Few people have beards. Beaks are short and slightly curved, most of them are black or brown and a few are pink. The crown, whiskers and ear lobes are red. Iridescent is mostly brown. Most of the tibia is black, and a few individuals have tibial feathers. There are also a few types of black-bone chickens in Haidong Chicken, whose crown, mustache, skin, periosteum and sublingual roots are all black, and their appearance characteristics are similar to other types of chickens, but their body shape, head, crown and mustache are smaller.

Advantages and disadvantages of varieties

Haidong Chicken is a unique breed of chicken in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China, which adapts to the unique ecological environment and feeding conditions in alpine semi-agricultural and semi-pastoral areas, and is resistant to roughage, cold and good in meat quality. However, this breed has low egg production, slow early growth and late sexual maturity, and the rooster has a long service life in the process of raising farmers and herdsmen, resulting in low hatching rate and fertilization rate.
