Characteristics of genetic identity card

Gene is a fragment containing all the genetic information of a person, which is inherent in life and will remain unchanged for life. This genetic information is contained in all human tissues or organs, such as human bones, hair and blood. In recent years, a variety of genetic markers have been developed for individual identification. Among them, short tandem repeat (STR) has become the most important individual identification marker in forensic laboratory because of its simplicity, rapidity, high accuracy and moderate amplified fragment size.

DNA detection was carried out at the 13 core STR locus containing international standards. Based on the information of these loci, the individual identification rate of individuals has exceeded 100 billion, that is, there will be no duplication of STR genotypes between two individuals in 1000 billion people, and individuals can be identified by the same method.
